The fall and winter of 2009/2010 yielded a time for change. In light of recent research and development, I have decided to progress forward and institute a plan of regeneration in my apiaries. There are just too many chemicals in our hives today. I will now institute a program of no varroa treatments, no antibiotics, replacement of all wax (over the next 2 years) and increase the influx of new queen stock by obtaining Minnesota Hygienic stock and VSH stock as well as my own survivors. Unfortunately, this means no spring nucs in 2010. Possibly no nucs this year at all as most of the nucs started this season will be used to rebuild my own colonies.
